On a Book about Ottoman Diplomatica

Abstract

This article is about the publishing and evaluation of the "Buyuruldiyât Defteri" of the provincial divan, by Michael Ursinus. We were aware of this defter from the eighteenth century, yet we had not seen other examples as such. This article puts forward a critical assessment of the book by Ursinus. In this context, we will revise our understanding of the eighteenth century.
