Abstract

This article deals with the epitaph readings of the gravestones found in the burial yard (hazire) of Esma Han Sultan Mosque in Mangalia, the Romanian city. A 16th century Ottoman architectural work, the mosque was restored in 2008 and during that time I did the deciphering of the inscriptions of gravestones. These gravestones are very important in demonstrating the existence of Turks in Romanian land. Therefore it is important to preserve them and to make future generations familiar with them.
