Abstract

Armenians caused quite a big trouble for the Ottoman State after the start of the First world war by organizing rebellions and riots behind the battle front. Since these riots took place in regions like Van and Zeitun which were the on the logistic routes of the Ottoman army and suitable fort he occupation of enemy occupation, the Ottoman state felt the need to establish the security behind the battle front. Armenians living in Marash-Zeitun region who refused to change their rebellious attitude were deported to Konya with their families. The scale of the deportation was later on expanded. This study dwells upon the reasons behind the deportation of Marash-Zeitun Armenians and these deportations were carried out in the respected region.
