Hungarian Ethnographer István Györffy and his North Marmara Region Expedition (1918)

Abstract
In 1918, an expedition team was formed by Hungarian government to investigate the north shores of Anatolia from economic and cultural facets. Hungarian ethnographer, Istvan Györffy was also in this team led by Dr. Jeno Lenard, a member of the Turanian Association. Altough this expedition lasted for a short time because of thc adverse conditions created by World War I, important findings wcre obtained from the results of this expedition. Istvan Györffy, ethnographically charted the territory and took many photographs of Turkey of 1918s. In this study, the importance of his works done during this expedition is evaluated.
