Abstract

The main purpose of the article is to bring out historical and political incentives behind the events occurred in between 1992 and 1995 in Bosnia. In the study, affects of the European common culture to the events mentioned are also taken into consideration. Whilst studying the case, Muslim identity of Bosnians in the Ottoman Period and the Christian identity of them in the Middle Ages have both taken into consideration. This intellectual process aims at answering the following questions: Are these events natural outputs of the disintegration of Yugoslavia? What were the major factors to escalate these events in Bosnia? Why did the European Union not intervene to these events on time? Could there be any other reasons than publicly declared? What is the aim of the political structure created after the Bosnian War? Answers to these problems would help us to understand the Bosnian near history as well as to comprehend the Bosnian near future in the way of peace building processes.
