Abstract

The events that took place during the deportation of Ottoman Armenians for reasons of internal security into safer regions during the World War I have been subject to a wide range of non-scholarly and subjective works for 93 years. Today international public are bombarded by various campaigns under the rubric of "Armenian Genocide" organized by certain groups and supported by some states. Ahmed Refik deals with the application of the deportation in Eskişehir in his work titled "Two Committees, Two Wars" where he emphasizes the fact that delicate issues, which may damage the reputation of the States or affect the destiny of the nations, shall be handled in an objective way. This article points out that there are great discrepancies between Ahmed Refik's dramatic expression of the events and the findings gleaned from the documents in the Ottoman Archives.
